At Hobart Smash Repairs, our journey started with Gian-Mario Toigo, our owner and founder and an expert panel beating and smash repair specialist. His odyssey in the industry started in 1977 with his apprenticeship with GM Hopwood. Still, he aspired to have his own business where he could offer his expert skills to his local community. Gian-Mario then took it upon himself to start his own business. We started on Mull Street; then we moved over to Murray Street, two locations you may remember seeing us. From there, Gian-Mario took a sabbatical from panel beating but found that he was missing the industry. 


With duty calling, he went back and worked at various locations under the umbrella of Hobart Smash Repairs and as time progressed, he became an owner and partner. Now, the business has progressed into a generational business with his wife and son both on the team. Gian-Mario’s son, Adrian, is our head estimator, and he has years of experience and the technical understanding to offer our specialist services in a more broad sense: for luxury cars, vintage cars, and 4WDs. And now, the rest is history, and we’re the business you trust with your collision repair needs.
